In order to save time on the part of
HHICC volunteers and confusion by the public inquiring about making computer
and/or peripheral equipment
donations, please use the following basic guidelines in discussing such matters with callers or visitors to the Resource Center:
Personal Computers :
First, the personal computer and the installed hard disk(s), the 3.5" diskette drive and the CD-ROM drive must be in good working order.
Next, the CPU
* must operate at 133 MHz or faster,
* must contain at least 32 Mb of RAM
* must contain at least one 3.5", 1.44 Mb diskette drive, a CD-ROM drive, at least 500 Mb hard drive , and at least 16-bit Audio card
Lastly, it is very important to inquire about availability
of hardware documentation, operating manual(s), operating system documentation
and start-up disks,
power cords, etc.
Peripherals, if separate :
Monitor must be at least 15" color display with minimum resolution of 800x600.
Printer must be compatible with Windows 9x or higher operating system.
Modem operating speed must be at least 28.8 Kbps.
