Here are two pictures of my old Mazda 323 after I managed to limp back (sans coolant) from the scene of the accident to my apartment. Although the damage doesn't look really bad to the eye, I ended up having to total the vehicle because the repairs would have cost more than the car was worth. There was considerable frame damage, the radiator was punctured (which accounts for the complete loss of coolant), and I couldn't even get the hood off to assess how much other damage was done inside the engine compartment, although the drivetrain still seemed fully functional.
